History of Bvlgari
Bvlgari was founded by the Greek silversmith Sotirios Voulgaris in Rome in 1884. Voulgaris built his business into one of the leading jewelry workshops in the world. In 1980, the company founded Bulgari Time in Neuchatel, Switzerland and it is here that it makes timepieces such as the Bvlgari-Bvlgari, the Octo and the Serpenti. In 2011 the company was acquired by the LVMH Group.

Sotirios Voulgaris’s first store still exists in the village of Paramythia, Greece.
A phonetic spelling
The name Bvlgari is the phonetic spelling of Sotirios’s last name, Voulgaris. It is can be spelled with both a “v” and a “u”.
Bvlgari also has a number of boutique hotels in Milan, London, Dubai, Bali, Tokyo, and Beijing. A hotel in Shanghai will be opening this year and another in Moscow in 2020
