History of Perrelet
Perrelet Watches was founded in 1777 by Abraham-Louis Perrelet in Le Locle, Switzerland. Perrelet was fascinated by the idea of perpetual motion and was keen to design a system that would allow a mechanical watch to function indefinitely. Though he never achieved perpetual motion, he did invent the first automatic watch, using an oscillating weight to wind the watch (a system which is still in use today). His son, Louis-Frédéric Perrelet, went on to continue his legacy and he became watchmaker-mechanic to three French kings.
