The DOXA SUB 300 Carbon Aqua Lung US Divers, a partnership reconnecting two legendary brands

The SUB 300 history

The DOXA SUB 300 was first launched in 1967, revolutionizing the watch industry with the first purpose-designed diver’s watch that was accessible to both professionals and the general public. It marked a first with its patented rotating bezel that allowed the diver to calculate and monitor no-decompression times based on the official US Navy dive tables. The SUB 300 stood out from a crowd as it was the first divers watch with a bright orange dial, a signature color for DOXA still today.

Aqua Lung partnership

In 1968, Jacques-Yves Cousteau, co-inventor of the Aqua Lung underwater breathing system, secured the exclusive distribution of the DOXA SUB 300 for his company US Divers. During the development of the first series of the SUB 300 sporting the Aqua Lung logo in black and yellow, testing revealed that another logo with better legibility was needed. Only a few units from this test batch, nicknamed “Black Lung,” made it to market and are today the most coveted piece for DOXA collectors.

The DOXA SUB 300 Carbon Aqua Lung US Divers

More than 50 years after its launch, the SUB 300 has been reinterpreted while paying tribute to its past with a new partnership with Aqua Lung. The texture and color variations of the 42.5mm forged carbon case exudes a high-tech urban look and feel, as well as being much lighter than its steel predecessors at only 87 grams. The dial follows suit, as it as well, is in carbon.  All dive-related markings are coated in Superluminova to ensure optimal visibility in all conditions and depths. The indices and the indication of dive time in minutes are in white on the inner ring of the famous patented unidirectional rotating bezel, as is the DOXA logo. The hour hand and the depth indications in feet on the outer bezel ring are in yellow, perfectly matched, of course, with the yellow color of the Aqua Lung logo.

The DOXA SUB 300 Carbon Aqua Lung US Divers features a pressure-resistant titanium chamber and a screw-down crown. The watch has a water resistance of 300 meters (984 feet). It is powered by an ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, COSC certified, with a 40-hour power reserve.

The SUB 300 Carbon Aqua Lung US Divers is limited to only 300 pieces.
