DOXA SUB 300T Aristera – A Bold New Dive Watch for Left-Handers
DOXA introduces a limited-edition dive watch that stands out as the first of its kind from the brand, specifically designed for left-handed users.
DOXA has once again made waves in the world of dive watches with the launch of the SUB 300T Professional Aristera, a limited-edition dive watch that stands out as the first of its kind from the brand, specifically designed for left-handed users. This new addition to the iconic SUB 300T collection features a unique left-sided crown designed specifically for left-handed wearers.
Limited to just 300 pieces worldwide, the SUB 300T Professional Aristera ensures left-handed wearers can experience the same comfort and functionality as right-handed users, an often-overlooked consideration in the industry. The name “Aristera,” which means “left” in Greek, is a nod to both the watch’s unique configuration and DOXA’s heritage—the brand name itself means “glory” in Greek.
Historically, the SUB 300T model has been a symbol of innovation since its debut in 1968, gaining fame for its vibrant orange dial, which ensured unparalleled legibility underwater. The SUB 300T Professional Aristera continues this legacy, incorporating a unidirectional bezel and a helium release valve, features that have made the model a favorite among professional and amateur divers.
One of the most fascinating aspects of the Aristera is the technical wizardry that went into its creation. To accommodate the left-side crown, DOXA’s engineers had to rotate the movement 180 degrees within the case. Despite this significant adjustment, the date window remains comfortably at the 3 o’clock position, a detail that required a lot of fine-tuning and rigorous testing.
Under the hood, the Aristera features a Swiss automatic movement, humming away at 28,800 vibrations per hour, with a power reserve that lasts around 38 hours. The SUB 300T Professional Aristera is engineered to withstand the rigors of deep-sea diving, with an impressive water resistance up to 1,200 meters (approximately 4,000 feet).
Made from a solid block of 316L stainless steel, the 42.50 mm case is as durable as it is stylish. The bezel, featuring an aluminium insert, pays homage to a design introduced by Aubry Frères in the 1980s. With a matte silver finish, the Aristera effortlessly combines ruggedness with a refined design.
Of course, readability is key in a dive watch, and the Aristera doesn’t disappoint. It’s fitted with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment, and all dive-related indicators are coated with Super-LumiNova® for exceptional visibility, even in the murkiest waters.
Adding to its versatility, the SUB 300T Professional Aristera comes with DOXA’s signature ‘beads of rice’ stainless steel bracelet and a lighter, more casual NATO-style strap. Both options have a folding clasp, ratcheting wetsuit extension, or a pin buckle.
The caseback of the SUB 300T Professional Aristera is engraved with an image of a sailing vessel, its sails full, in reverse relief as a nod to its left-handed design. This limited-edition model, with its unique features and collector’s appeal, reinforces DOXA’s reputation as a brand that marries tradition with innovation, catering to the needs of both left and right-handed adventurers.
