The new in-house caliber in the latest generation of the Hysek Furtif was designed and created by master watchmaker Laurent Besse, who joined the manufacture in 2018. The manual-winding caliber is unusual in that it is completely square and fits perfectly inside the watch’s 44mm square case.
In addition to its square shape, the movement contains components that have been hollowed out as much as possible to allow the light to pass through the sapphire crystals front and back.
The Arabic numerals – one, five, seven and 11 – have been placed directly on the movement. The one o’clock marker is on the seconds wheel, the five o’clock numeral is on the barrel (providing a 45-hour power reserve), the seven is on one of the bridges, and the 11 is next to the escapement.
The cases measure L 44mm x H 51mm x W14mm and are all finished in-house to give this avant-garde carbon look.
The timepieces come with alligator straps and deployment buckles, and are water-resistant to 30 meters.
