IWC is marking the 80th Anniversary of Antoine de Saint Exupéry’s historic Atlantic Crossing with an exhibition in the brand’s New York City boutique with photographs and historic objects from the time. It also introduced this Pilot’s Watch Timezoner Chronograph Edition “80 Years Flight to New York”, in commemoration of the author’s trip aboard the French flying boat Latécoère 521, pictured above.
The non-stop flight took 28 hours and 27 minutes.
This special edition timepiece, in steel features the patented timezoner function, which allows the wearer to adjust the time zone by simply pressing and rotating the bezel. The cities of Paris and New York are highlighted in red on the brown ceramic bezel in remembrance of the provenance and destination of the flight.
The watch is powered by the IWC 89760 automatic flyback chronograph caliber, which has a 68-hour power reserve.
The collection is limited to 80 pieces and is available exclusively in IWC’s boutiques. Proceeds from the first piece – 1/80 – will be donated to the Saint Exupéry Foundation.
