Maurice Lacroix launched two new women’s collections last week in Paris, This was no ordinary watch introduction. The Swiss watch brand unveiled its novelties at Adeline Ziliox’s, fall/winter show during Paris Fashion Week, in front of the world’s fashion press and a handful of lucky watch journalists like ourselves!
Maurice Lacroix’s partnership with Adeline Ziliox
Maurice Lacroix announced its partnership with French fashion designer, Adeline Ziliox, last year with a special fashion show to celebrate the collaboration. Adeline Ziliox started her own fashion brand after her studies and has been creating collections for strong, independent women ever since. Her signature style is urban chic although she doesn’t stick to any one style and likes to concentrate on ultra-feminine, timeless creations in all different forms.
Paris Fashion Week
It made perfect sense for Maurice Lacroix to unveil its new feminine collections on the models at Adeline Ziliox’s show, pairing the watches to her haute couture creations as if they had been designed to go together. A gorgeous green glittery skirt was paired with the new Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Embrace, and an Eliros with a dark green dial and matching strap was the ideal accessory for a full-length ivory and emerald green gown.
The Masterpiece Embrace
While most of the audience was concentrating on the clothes, we have to admit that we had our eyes fixed on the model’s wrists! One timepiece that caught our eye was the brand new Masterpiece Embrace. This new mechanical timepiece has taken the brand’s men’s Masterpiece Square Wheel and reinterpreted it into a timepiece for women. Instead of square wheels, Maurice Lacroix has designed two rotating hearts that turn around themselves thanks to special teeth on the outside of each heart that interlock. The hearts aren’t only decorative, they are functioning wheels that are part of the movement.
The Masterpiece Embrace’s Retrograde Date
In addition to the rotating hearts, the timepiece also features a retrograde date at five o’clock. The retrograde hand that points to the date has been designed in the form of a cupid’s arrow for an additional reference to romance. Above the date markers is also the phrase “Je t’aime, un peu, beaucoup, à la folie“, the French for the lover’s game “He loves me, he loves me not”.
Two versions in aventurine and mother-of-pearl
There are two versions – one with a starry midnight-blue aventurine dial and the other with a white mother-of-pearl face that has been engraved with lines leaving from the hearts. Both versions come with leaf-shaped hour and minute hands and are housed in a 40mm stainless steel cases.
The Caliber ML258
The timepiece is powered by the mechanical automatic caliber ML258 that has been finished to a high standard with rhodium-plated bridges and rotor, and a Côtes de Genève decoration.
The Fiaba Moonphase
In addition to the Masterpiece Embrace, Maurice Lacroix introduced a new Fiaba Moonphase line with three introductory models – one in stainless steel with a sunray blue dial, the second in stainless steel with a white mother-of-pearl dial, and the third in stainless steel and gold with a white mother-pearl-dial dial and gold-colored hands and indexes. All three models come in a 32mm size and are powered by quartz movements.
A closer look reveals a large moonphase at six o’clock, a ring of 46 diamonds on the inner circle of the dial and an elegant bezel that sits on top of the case. It isn’t only the moonphase that is new, this is also the first time that Maurice Lacroix has used Arabic numerals and drop-shaped indexes on a Fiaba timepiece. All three models are fitted with elegant three-link bracelets, bringing both comfort and a sophisticated touch.
With these five new timepieces, Maurice Lacroix is reinforcing its female collections to seduce even more female clients. With timepieces of this quality at such affordable prices, this shouldn’t be too difficult to achieve!
