Today, Ralph Lauren unveils its Kicker Bear Watch Capsule Collection in celebration of the spirit and style of international sportsmanship that the Rugby World Cup represents.
This limited edition collection presents Ralph Lauren’s most famous mascot, the teddy bear, playing a game of rugby in the center of the dial. There are nine different bears to choose from, one for each of the nations competing in the Rugby World Cup—Australia, England, France, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Scotland, USA and Wales.
Each model depicts a Kicker Bear dressed in his team’s rugby strip with a matching colored strap that features the country’s flag printed onto a woven canvas strap.
This is only the second time that Ralph Lauren has released a Polo timepiece collection. The Bear debuted in 1991 and can be found in many of the American company’s other men’s Polo Ralph Lauren apparel styles such as sneakers, Polo shirts, fleece hoodies and cotton chino caps.
The watch is housed in a 42mm stainless steel case and is powered by the Swiss-Made RL200 automatic movement with a 38-hour power reserve. The movement is visible through a sapphire crystal case back, showing all the codes of fine watchmaking such as Côtes de Genève stripes and a circular graining motif. The bears are printed onto lacquered, off-white dials and feature bold Arabic numerals and the Ralph Lauren Polo logo at nine o’clock, so as not to distract from the beloved bear.
So whatever team you are rooting for during the World Cup, there is a Ralph Lauren Kicker Bear just waiting to cheer along with you.
