Bell & Ross BR01 Laughing Skull

The BR 01 Laughing Skull lends itself perfectly to the square case of Bell & Ross’s BR 01 collection as the crossbones reach the four corners of the case. This bold timepiece is made of micro-blasted stainless steel and is decorated with a guilloché pattern called the Clous de Paris that requires a special kind of machining. If this isn’t scary enough, turn the crown a few times to wind the watch up and the skull moves to really scare you.

HYT POCKET SKULL AND SKULL 48.8mm

Both the HYT Pocket Skull and Skull 48.8mm model offer a unique vision of telling the time using liquids. The green colored liquid advances around the dial (and the head of the skull) at the same speed as an hour hand so the time can be perceived with one quick look at the watch. On the photo below left, for example,, the time is around 2:10. HYT has a number of skull models that come a range of different colors including red, blue and black.

SPEAKE-MARIN crazy skulls

Skulls have been a popular feature in the Speake-Marin brand for over a decade as a gentle reminder to appreciate life. The Crazy Skulls model is particularly special as it not only has two skulls, but also a minute repeater, a tourbillon and a fascinating animation. When the minute repeater slider is activated, the bells begin to chime and the mechanism separates the two skulls to reveal the tourbillon beneath. As the skulls separate the Roman numerals at 12 o’clock also fall away. Watch the video below to see how it all works.

DE GRISOGONO crazy skull

Another Crazy Skull, this time from De Grisogono. This one-of-a-kind timepiece combines both the arts of watchmaking and jewelry making and  took over a year of research and development to complete. Depending on the style, there are over 23 carats of gem stones including 7.70 carats for the teeth alone that are made up of white baguette diamonds. Even the tongue is set with pink sapphires.
