TITONI’s Airmaster Pilot Titan Chronometer – Taking Flight

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of its historic 1945 commission to supply 30,000 timepieces to U.S. Army soldiers, TITONI has launched the Airmaster Pilot Chronometer in a lightweight grade 5 titanium case with a choice of two dial variations.

TITONI’s Airmaster Pilot Titan Chronometer – Taking Flight

Back in 1945, the Swiss family-owned company Felco was given a monumental task: to create timepieces for 30,000 U.S. Army soldiers. This was a real testament to the trust placed in Swiss precision during a pivotal moment in history. Fast forward 80 years, and TITONI, carrying forward that same spirit, is celebrating this milestone with the launch of the Airmaster Pilot Titan Chronometer in two dial variations.

This isn’t your typical pilot watch. It’s a statement piece that bridges the gap between the past and the present. Olivier Schluep, TITONI’s co-CEO and great-grandson of the company’s founder, summed it up perfectly: “Our goal was to reimagine the classic pilot’s watch, combining cutting-edge precision with the latest high-tech materials.”

And that’s precisely what they’ve done. The Airmaster Pilot’s design is functional yet striking and stays true to its aviation roots. The COSC-certified chronometer dial is all about readability. Whether you’re flying high above the clouds or simply glancing at your wrist during a meeting, the dual-layered dial coated in Super-LumiNova ensures that every number and index stands out. The flat sapphire crystal, treated with double anti-reflective coating, cuts down on glare and keeps the display crystal clear, even at sharp angles.

At 43 mm, the case feels substantial without being overwhelming, and here’s the kicker—it weighs only 86 grams. The secret lies in its grade 5 titanium construction, a material known for its lightness and durability. But TITONI didn’t stop there. They’ve smoothed out titanium’s naturally coarse texture using advanced machining techniques, giving the case a refined matte finish with polished details. It feels as good as it looks.

With its fine grooves, the crown is very practical, offering a secure grip without the bulky, oversized design often seen in traditional pilot watches. And the back of the case? It’s a work of art in itself, with an embossed image of a 1940s pilot and a propeller adding a personal touch.

The Airmaster Pilot is powered by the Sellita SW200-1 movement, housed in a soft iron cage that shields it from magnetic fields up to 500 gauss. This isn’t just a cool feature for pilots—it’s a practical benefit for anyone dealing with everyday magnetic interference. Less interference means fewer trips to the watchmaker for demagnetization. Every single Airmaster Pilot is assembled and tested at TITONI’s headquarters in Grenchen before it leaves the workshop.

The Airmaster Pilot Chronometer isn’t just about celebrating an 80-year-old legacy; it’s about looking to the future while staying grounded in the values that made TITONI what it is today. Whether you’re cruising at 30,000 feet or navigating the challenges of daily life, this is a watch that doesn’t just keep time—it tells a story.
