The Alpiner Extreme Skeleton Automatic is a bold new take on a classic design, featuring a compact 39 x 40.5 mm cushion-shaped case that strips away the dial to reveal the intricate Swiss mechanics inside. Available in two versions—one in full steel and another with a striking blue rubber strap—this watch challenges the old-school notion that sports watches and skeleton watches are worlds apart.
This is the first time the Alpiner Extreme Automatic collection has introduced a skeletonized model, and the result is impressive. The case is slightly smaller than previous versions, but it still packs a punch with sharp lines and a powerful presence. The skeletonized section, which runs between 8 and 1 o’clock, is designed to let light into the heart of the movement, beautifully showcased through the sapphire caseback.
The grey version of the watch has a mineral, almost stone-like quality that pays homage to Alpina’s Alpine roots. Every detail, from the hand-applied hour markers to the luminescent hands, is made with care. The design is rounded off with Alpina’s signature red triangle on the seconds hand and a bezel with six screws shaped like the Alpina triangle. The all-new steel bracelet, with its alternating polished and satin finishes, adds to the watch’s robust, yet sophisticated look.
For those looking for a bit more versatility, the navy-blue version offers a fresh take that’s just as at home in the mountains as it is by the sea, thanks to its 200-meter water resistance. The blue elements on the flange, minute track, and textured rubber strap provide a stylish contrast to the mineral grey, making this version a standout piece that’s both functional and fashionable.
