Chopard’s Mille Miglia collection introduces a new design for the Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph model. The watch features a 40.5 mm case made from Chopard’s exclusive Lucent Steel™, which has a recycling rate of at least 80%. The dial, inspired by the black and white chequered flag of a motor-race winner, symbolizes competitive spirit and is called ‘La Gara’. The crystal is a ‘glass box’ design for maximum legibility.
The collection, inspired by Italy’s 1000 Miglia classic car race, has been a part of Chopard’s offerings for 36 years. Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, reflecting his family’s passion for classic car races, has participated in the 1000 Miglia every year since 1989. This long-standing partnership has resulted in 36 editions of Mille Miglia watches, each embodying the spirit of the race.
The new model’s 40.5 mm case, crafted from Lucent Steel™, offers durability, anti-allergenic properties, and a luminous appearance. The design includes polished and satin-brushed finishes, knurled pushers reminiscent of brake pedals, and a redesigned pin buckle.
The ‘La Gara’ dial, inspired by race car symbols, has a two-tone design with a silver base and black counters, ensuring readability with white Grade XI Super-Luminova® coatings. The dial is protected by a deep, glass-box sapphire crystal.
The watch’s back reveals a self-winding chronograph movement certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute, with a 54-hour power reserve. The 4 Hz frequency movement, stop-second function, and tachymeter scale cater to drivers. The model features a perforated black calfskin strap with ecru stitching, secured by a Lucent Steel™ pin buckle.
