Cuervo y Sobrinos pays tribute to Cuban freediving legend Francisco ‘Pipin’ Ferreras with the Buceador Caribe Pipin diver’s watch. This striking timepiece features blue, red, and white hues, reflecting the Cuban flag, and is designed for optimal underwater performance.
Cuervo y Sobrinos first partnered with Pipin in 2021. He is known for his ‘No-Limits’ freediving achievements, including a world record depth of 112 meters in 1989. This collaboration led to the introduction of the Buceador Caribe Pipin, drawing on Pipin’s extensive underwater experience.
The watch features a white dial accented with blue and red, bold hour and minute hands, and white indices with blue outlines. The minute hand is edged in red for visibility, and both hands and indices are lined with Super-LumiNova®. The blue center seconds hand has a red-outlined lollipop, and there is a date aperture at the base of the dial.
The 43mm steel case is water-resistant to 200m. A pusher at 4 o’clock unlocks the crown at 2 o’clock, which adjusts the internal rotating bezel for monitoring dive time. Another crown at 9 o’clock sets the time and winds the mainspring.
The solid case back is engraved with a diver and tropical fish. Powered by the CYS 8126 automatic caliber, the watch includes a high-gloss white rubber strap and an additional blue leather strap, both fastening with a steel pin buckle engraved with the CyS emblem.
Limited to 171 pieces, this edition commemorates Pipin’s 171-meter No-Limits world record set in 2003, celebrating his remarkable achievements and his legacy as a beloved Cuban icon.
