History of Cyrus

Cyrus is an independent watch brand founded in 2010, with its own manufacture at the forefront of technology. The company loves nothing more than to turn watchmaking on its head with its unusual designs and unique mechanics without ever compromising quality.

Kuros, the first watch that Cyrus ever created, had two crowns that were both functional. In this watch, which is no longer in production, you could pull the crown out to read the limited series number. Today every Cyrus watch has a double crown, which has become their recognizable feature. Except for the Klepcys Alarm and the Klepcys Solo Tempo, both crowns always have a function.

The brand produces about 600 watches a year and is available in selected retail stores around the world.

Cyrus – The Klepcys name

The Klepcys name that precedes the function in most Cyrus watch names comes from the Latin “Clepsydra,” an ancient device for measuring time by the regulated flow of water or mercury through a small opening, known as an hourglass.

Cyrus Master Watchmaker – Jean-François Mojon

Jean-François Mojon, one of Switzerland’s leading master watchmakers, is the creative genius behind Cyrus watches. He is a master watchmaker and a wizard in unconventionally displaying the time. He has been the watchmaker for Cyrus watches since the start in 2010 and creates every single watch. He is also the founder and co-owner of Chronode, which produces all the calibers for Cyrus watches, as well as for other watch brands such as Harry Winston, Urban Jürgensen, MB&F, HYT, and others.

Who Owns Cyrus?

Cyrus is owned by a wealthy Swiss family with a passion for watches. Cyrus not only has the know-how and productive autonomy but can freely express their creativity while realizing their timepieces – from design, prototyping, caliber production, decorations, testing, to final assembly.

Fun Fact

The brand is named after King Cyrus the Great, the famous Persian King who lived in the 6th century B.C. He was the Persian Empire founder and conquered most of Western Asia and much of Central Asia.
