The story

H. Moser & Cie are known for creating fun, out of the box social media posts. On April Fools Day 2019, they posted a photoshopped picture of a watch with a black dial and black hands on social media. What started as a simple joke resulted in an abundance of requests from interested parties. H. Moser & Cie rose to the occasion with three exceptional new editions all with Vantablack® dials and black hands – the Venturer Vantablack® Black Hands, Venturer Vantablack® Black Hands XL and Endeavour Tourbillon Vantablack® Black Hands.

H. Moser Venturer Vantablack® Black Hands XL

The Venturer Vantablack® Black Hands XL features the blackest dial ever seen on a watch face. Combined with black hands, the absence of a logo and no numerals or indexes, it really is a stand out piece.  The 43mm case is in steel and only 11.9 millimeters thick or thin should I say? The watch is powered by H. Moser’s in-house HMC 327 manual movement with a 72-hour power reserve, and a power reserve indicator is visible on the movement through the see-through caseback.

Vantablack®

Vantablack® is the blackest black ever produced by artificial means. It is composed of carbon nanotubes that are 10,000 times finer than a human hair, aligned vertically alongside each other. When a photon hits Vantablack®, this material absorbs 99.965% of the light. As our eyes need reflected light to perceive what we are looking at, Vantablack® is perceived as the absence of matter, a black hole. It is a material that is extremely delicate to work with. However once behind the sapphire glass of the H. Moser Venturer Vantablack® Black Hands XL it is perfectly protected.
