Inspired by nostalgia, HAUTLENCE imagined what its watches might have looked like in the 1940s. This concept received such positive feedback that the brand decided to create a special series of only 10 pieces. The RETROVISION ’47 features a unique rectangular case with rounded edges, reminiscent of old television sets but inspired by the 1940s General Television & Radio Corp. Chicago Model 5A5 radio.
The hand-painted titanium case of the Retrovision ’47 mimics the marbled green and white Bakelite of the historic radio, with titanium lugs designed like carrying handles and a crown at 6 o’clock for symmetry. A red leather strap adds a vintage touch. The watch has a traditional hour and minute dial with central hands, and a small offset dial featuring red hands modeled after a frequency selector. The left side includes a “speaker” grill revealing a 60-second flying tourbillon.
The case back is styled after the radio’s back, engraved with the brand name and serial number, and a round sapphire display back reveals the D20 automatic caliber with a 72-hour power reserve.
The RETROVISION ’47 is a whimsical, evocative piece that blends HAUTLENCE’s horological creativity with a retro aesthetic, celebrating their unique vision of kinetic, wearable art.
