IWC Schaffhausen pays tribute to the “Blue Angels™”, a U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, with a special edition Pilot’s Watch Chronograph.

THE COLLABORATION

IWC Schaffhausen became the official licensee of the “Blue Angels™” U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron this year and to celebrate they released this Special Edition Pilot’s Watch Chronograph with a black polished ceramic case and striking blue dial.

THE SQUADRON

The “Blue Angels™” U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron is made up of 141 members of the navy and the marines who fly F/A-18 Hornet jets in solo acrobatic performances or as part of a formation to over 11 million spectators each year.

THE DISPLAY

This special edition timepiece was designed in collaboration with the squadron. The display of the minutes on the outer ring and the hours on the inner ring of the dial were inspired by early military observer’s wristwatches.

THE MOVEMENT

The timepiece is powered by the brand’s in-house Caliber 89361 automatic chronograph and has a 68-hour power reserve. It also has a soft-iron inner cage to protect the movement from magnetic fields that can affect precision.
