The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso One Precious Flowers – Birds of Paradise model features a design inspired by the Birds of Paradise flower, which stands for freedom and joy. This timepiece showcases a new interpretation of traditional Grand Feu champlevé enameling, where the design is initially carved from the flat gold surface of the case-back. Tiny 24-carat gold leaf pieces are shaped and fixed into specific sections of the flower, enhancing the texture and brilliance of the orange and golden colors. The enameller then applies 19 different enamel pigments, layering them to enhance depth and tone.
The process involves up to nine layers of enamel, taking around 60 hours. The vivid colors of the flowers and leaves are set against a backdrop of diamonds using the snow-setting technique, a method that incorporates nine sizes of diamonds set by hand to cover every millimeter of the metal, achieving a continuous sparkle.
The Birds of Paradise watch is set with 331 diamonds totaling 1.64 carats, requiring 65 hours of setting. It is secured with a custom-dyed shiny green alligator leather strap. Altogether, the Reverso One ‘Precious Flowers’ Birds of Paradise displays 125 hours of Métiers Rares™ craftsmanship.
