Limited edition of 8 pieces
Linde Werdelin launches its third collaborative collection with master engraver Johnny Dowell aka King Nerd.
The Oktopus Volcano is a piece of wearable art with a case engraved by master engraver Johnny Dowell. It is limited to eight pieces, with no one piece being exactly the same.
The engraving on the case has been inspired by the cooling of lava into volcanic rock. It is made of titanium that has been blackened in the grooves and enhanced with 24-karat gold in places.
The whole process takes several weeks to complete, from planning the layout to the engraving, adding the blackened effect into the grooves, and the inlaying of the gold. The majority of the work is done under a microscope or a magnifying glass.
Johnny Dowell trained with renowned British gunsmith James Purdey & Sons for 15 years, before extending his passion for engraving to the world of horology, jewelry, and even motorcycles.
The Oktopus Volcano is powered by a custom-made, Dubois Dépraz automatic movement. It is water-resistant to 300 meters and comes with an interchangeable rubber strap.
The outer case is covered in a lava and ash engraving representing an active volcano..
