Louis Erard has embarked on a venture into the world of contemporary art through a partnership with the Swiss abstract artist Olivier Mosset. Together, they have produced a limited edition watch of 178 pieces where everything is black. The watch features a black dial with silver glitter inlays that merge the domains of avant-garde art and traditional watchmaking.
The design is influenced by Mosset’s minimalist style and his love for street culture, with design elements reminiscent of motorbikes and cars, and devoid of labels and logos. The watch serves not only as a timepiece but also as an abstract art piece with separated hands for hours, minutes, and seconds for a reinterpretation of the traditional regulator, enhancing its artistic quality.
Initiated by Louis Erard’s director Manuel Emch, a connoisseur of contemporary art, the collaboration is a first for Mosset in watch design, drawing on his background in the Neuchâtel watchmaking region and his personal philosophy on time and art. The watch is presented as an art object, complete with a red seal and artist-signed bracelets, symbolizing the fusion of art and watchmaking and signaling future artistic collaborations by Louis Erard.
