This watch is no longer in the brand's current collection.
The Ralph Lauren Automotive collection masterfully combines a wristwatch with the style and elegance of classic automobiles from the 1950s.
The main plate of this new steel skeleton timepiece has been cut away to reveal the engine of the watch beneath.
A combination of polished and brushed steel components directly reference parts from Mr. Lauren’s own prized 1950s racing car collection, including the polished screws that were inspired by the rivets that were often used to secure the chassis of cars from yesteryear.
The case measures 44.8mm by 11.2mm and is powered by a Swiss-Made F. A. Jones mechanical movement that has been customized by Val Fleurier especially for Ralph Lauren. A unique wood bezel has been crafted from Amboyna burl, a hardwood best known for its use in luxury automotive interiors. Each bezel must be meticulously cut to reveal its rich, swirling grain pattern before being carefully attached with six screws by hand. The RL Automotive Steel is available with a brown leather strap or with a steel bracelet.
