Antimagnetic up to 500 Gauss.
In 1945, the Swiss family-owned company Felco was entrusted with the task of equipping 30,000 U.S. Army soldiers with Felco timepieces. Now, 80 years later, TITONI is celebrating this historic achievement with the launch of the Airmaster Pilot Chronometer.
The Airmaster Pilot is a perfect example of TITONI’s knack for blending tradition with modern innovation. This watch is more than just a nod to the past; it’s a bold reimagining of the classic pilot’s watch. As Olivier Schluep, Co-CEO and great-grandson of the brand’s founder, explains: “Our mission was to take the timeless design of a pilot’s watch and elevate it with cutting-edge manufacturing techniques and the latest high-tech materials.”
A quick glance at the COSC-certified chronometer dial tells you everything you need to know about its functionality. It’s designed for ultimate readability—crucial for a pilot’s watch. The dual-layered dial is coated with Super-LumiNova, while its raised indices and numerals pop against either a silver-white or black backdrop. The flat sapphire crystal, treated with a double anti-reflective coating, minimizes glare and keeps the face easy to read, even at sharp angles or while in motion. The crown’s grooved design offers a comfortable grip, avoiding the need for the oversized crowns often seen on traditional pilot watches.
Despite its robust 43 mm case size, the Airmaster Pilot is impressively light, weighing just 86 grams. This is thanks to TITONI’s use of grade 5 titanium, a material known for its strength and lightness. Using advanced techniques, TITONI has given the titanium a soft, velvety matte surface accented by polished details.
The attention to detail doesn’t stop there. Flip the watch over, and you’ll find an embossed image of a 1940s pilot and a propeller on the case back, a fitting tribute to the Airmaster’s roots.
Inside, a soft iron cage shields the Sellita SW200-1 chronometer movement from magnetic fields up to 500 gauss. This added protection isn’t just for aviators; it’s a practical feature that reduces sensitivity to everyday magnetic interference. Every Airmaster Pilot is fully assembled and tested in TITONI’s workshop in Grenchen before it heads out into the world.
