Zenith explores a new color with the Defy 21 Ultraviolet
A world-first in watchmaking, Zenith has treated an automatic chronograph movement in violet. Zenith chose its revolutionary 1/100th of a second El Primero 21 chronograph caliber beating at a frequency of 50Hz making it the highest-frequency watch in production.
The purple-treated bridges of the movement truly stand out in contrast with the 44mm matte sandblasted titanium case of the DEFY. The dial features three grey chronograph counters and a grey flange ring. A white-tipped central 1/100th of a second chronograph hand makes a complete revolution above the dial in one second. The violet movement is visible through the open dial. Turn the watch over and an even more impressive view of the movement can be admired through the sapphire crystal caseback.
Complementing the tones of the open movement, the black rubber strap features a violet insert that mimics the look of woven textiles. The Zenith DEFY 21 Ultraviolet is the first stand-alone DEFY 21 with an open dial paired with closed chronograph counters.
