Why not treat your Dad to a watch this Father’s Day?

Father’s Day is celebrated every third Sunday of June and we can’t think of a better gift than a beautiful timepiece to say thank you Dad.

By

Like many holidays, Father’s Day is a moment to reflect and say thank you. But do you know how it all began? The origin of Father’s Day is a heart-warming tale that will bring tears to your eyes.

It was all started by a young girl called Sonora Louise Smart Dodd from Spokane USA who lost her mother when she was only 16. Her father subsequently raised her and her five younger brothers singlehandedly. One day Dodd was listening to a sermon in church about the importance of Mother’s Day and realized that it wasn’t fair that there wasn’t a day for fathers too. In 1909 she drew up a petition and appealed to her community to hold a special day for fathers as well. She wanted to hold it on June 5th, her father’s birthday, but as Spokane’s mayor needed more time to prepare the festivities, it was held two weeks later on June 19th. The date has remained across the world ever since.

A timepiece is a great gift to show how thankful you are, so if you haven’t already bought a gift, here are a few ideas for timepieces that will bring a smile this Sunday.
