BA111OD has released a new version of the Chapter 7 Skeleton, and the change is one of material, stainless steel. The architecture, movement, and technical specifications carry over unchanged from the model introduced last May. What has changed is the finish: the anthracite PVD treatment of the original gives way to natural steel, and the effect on the openworked construction is considerable. Skeleton watches live or die by how light moves through them, and in bare steel the Chapter 7’s bridges and apertures catch and return it with noticeably more brightness than the darker original.
The inspiration, according to the brand, is the summer light of Neuchâtel, which is more than marketing shorthand. BA111OD imagines, develops and hand-assembles its watches there, and the lake, the Jura mountains and the region’s long watchmaking tradition have shaped its identity from the beginning. The new interpretation is offered on either a steel bracelet or a frost blue rubber strap, the latter a quiet nod to the reflections off Lake Neuchâtel on a long summer day.
The launch campaign features Loïc Huguenin, a BA111OD Playmaker and one of Switzerland’s leading wingfoilers, who trains daily on his home lake. It is an apt choice: working with wind, water and light demands the same precision, balance and control that watchmaking does. The natural steel Chapter 7 Skeleton preserves everything that defined the original while showing it, quite literally, in a new light.
