Ultra-Deep

The BENRUS Ultra-Deep is back and it’s exactly the kind of revival that makes collectors smile. Originally launched in the 1960s, at the height of the dive watch boom, the Ultra-Deep earned its stripes among tool watch purists for its handsome twin-crown Supercompressor case and no-nonsense charm. Now, decades later, it returns not as part of a glossy new collection, but as a fan-driven reissue.

At 36.5mm, the reissue stays true to the compact, purpose-built proportions of the original. The twin-crown setup is still here, now upgraded with modern screw-downs good for 20 ATM of water resistance. The matte black dial flows into an internal rotating bezel, its clean 60-minute scale maintaining the vintage look while improving everyday usability. On the wrist, it wears bigger than its size suggests which is a neat illusion born of smart mid-century design.

Inside ticks the reliable Swiss Soprod P024 automatic, visible only to those who know what makes this watch hum. BENRUS has kept the details right: cathedral hands, domed acrylic crystal, and warm C3 lume. On a Jubilee-style bracelet or the included blue NATO strap, the Ultra-Deep feels as natural above water as below. A proper return of a quiet classic.
