In a captivating fusion of tradition and contemporary design, Louis Erard and Massena LAB have joined forces once again to create an extraordinary timepiece—the Louis Erard x Massena LAB Monopusher Chronograph. This collaboration represents the shared vision of two platforms dedicated to bringing collector’s watches within reach. With a limited series of just 178 pieces, each priced at CHF 4,250, this chronograph stands as a testament to the power of collaboration.
Louis Erard’s exploration of classical watchmaking and its nostalgic ties to the 19th century has become synonymous with the brand. Their belief is that a timepiece is not simply an instrument for telling time but a medium of personal expression—a wrist-bound notebook where the captivating stories of intricate mechanics are written.
This marks the second collaboration between Louis Erard and Massena LAB, following their previous success with “Le Régulateur,” a timepiece that earned a coveted spot as a finalist for the prestigious Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. Their latest endeavor focuses on the monopusher chronograph, a highly technical complication that enables the wearer to control the chronograph functions using a single pusher. Louis Erard has embraced simplicity, featuring a single 30-minute totalizer displayed on a separate dial positioned at 12 o’clock.
Massena LAB, led by horology enthusiast William Massena, serves as a laboratory for preserving and appreciating historical watchmaking. With a deep admiration for the 18th and 19th-century masterpieces, Massena seeks to make this style more accessible, challenging the notion that it is reserved exclusively for the wealthy. Massena LAB strives to democratize the art form by drawing inspiration from luminaries such as Antide Janvier and their contributions to marine chronometry.
This collaboration perfectly aligns with Louis Erard’s philosophy of making exceptional timepieces accessible to a broader audience. Manuel Emch, the brand’s CEO and creative director, has made it his mission to break down the barriers of exclusivity associated with haute horlogerie. By embracing diverse elements of watchmaking culture, from métiers d’art to cutting-edge collaborations and independent watchmakers, Louis Erard has created a platform that celebrates creativity, craftsmanship, and artistic expression. Renowned collaborators such as Alain Silberstein, Vianney Halter, Konstantin Chaykin, atelier oï, seconde/seconde/, Eric Giroud, and Bastien Chevalier have already contributed their unique perspectives, with many more to follow.
The guiding principle of “Together we are stronger” has become Louis Erard’s motto, exemplifying the brand’s commitment to exploring new realms of excellence through collaboration. Each project by Louis Erard pushes the boundaries of innovation, resulting in meticulously crafted and exquisitely finished timepieces. The monopusher chronograph is a prime example, featuring a rhodium-plated outer flange and counter with a circular satin finish and diamond-cut corners. The lower plate is available in either rhodium-plated or 2N gilded, adorned with a finely-grained finish and a silver opaline counter center. At six o’clock, the dial proudly showcases the Louis Erard symbol alongside the Massena logo. Emphasizing exclusivity, every intricate detail is meticulously handcrafted, eschewing mass production in favor of artisanal excellence.
Like previous collaborations, the Louis Erard x Massena LAB Monopusher Chronograph will be released in a limited series. With only 100 pieces available for the gold dial and 78 pieces for the silver dial, this symbolic number of 178 represents the strength derived from unity. The timepiece comes in two variations: a sophisticated rhodium-plated dial and an elegant gilded dial.
William Massena emphasizes the importance of meaningful collaborations, and this partnership between Louis Erard and Massena LAB embodies this sentiment. As the journey continues, these two horological powerhouses are poised to create even more extraordinary timepieces that transcend mere timekeeping and become true works of art.
