To commemorate World Oceans Day, Ulysse Nardin has opted for a vibrant azure blue color scheme. This aquatic hue breathes new life into two of their timepieces: the Diver X Skeleton and the Diver Net. These watches maintain their robust and exact functionality even in the ocean’s depths. The Diver Net showcases innovative durability, while the Diver X Skeleton exhibits a revolutionary aesthetic for diving watches.

Ulysse Nardin’s connection to the marine world dates back to 1846, when they first crafted marine chronometers crucial for navigating ships and the lives of explorers. Today, the ocean itself faces grave threats, and its survival hinges on sustainable environmental resource management. Recognizing the importance of this cause, Ulysse Nardin supports the NGO OCEARCH and shark activist Mike Coots, leveraging their expertise in innovation and timekeeping. From an aesthetic standpoint, adding azure blue accents adds a striking contrast to the anthracite tones of the Diver X Skeleton and the Diver Net. Moreover, the Manufacture has responsibly utilized raw and recycled materials without compromising the excellence expected of Haute Horlogerie.

The statistics paint a grim picture of the ocean’s state: large fish populations have depleted by ninety percent, coral reefs have been destroyed by fifty percent, and the annual dumping of nine million tonnes of plastic into the ocean exacerbates the crisis. Ulysse Nardin, known for their pioneering use of revolutionary materials, introduced the Diver Net last year, crafted from upcycled materials. This exceptional timepiece resulted from a collaboration between the Manufacture and several start-ups. Its case incorporates Carbonium® (a carbon composite with 40% lower environmental impact), Nylo® (recycled polyamide from fishing nets), and 95% recycled steel. Notably, this represents an improvement over the first Diver Net, which contained 80% recycled steel. The new Ulysse Nardin Diver Net Azure houses the iconic UN-118 movement, featuring a silicon balance spring, an escapement wheel, and an anchor in DiamonSil. With a water resistance of up to 300 meters, this fine watch boasts blue accents on the dial’s X, display indications, and bezel markings. The rubber strap also incorporates ocean-inspired colors.

The ultra-technical and powerful Ulysse Nardin Diver X Skeleton Azure revolutionizes the aesthetics of diving watches. Its titanium DLC case ensures water resistance up to 200 meters, and its extraordinary design features a dynamic skeletonized face/dial adorned with a deep black and azure blue X. The transparent dial and movement draw the viewer’s attention deep into the intricacies of the mechanism. Carbonium®, a lightweight and resilient technical composite, is utilized for the barrel cover and the unidirectional rotating bezel for measuring immersion times. The UN-372 Manufacture caliber stands out for its reliability and accuracy, featuring an extra-large oscillator and a silicon escapement wheel, anchor, and balance spring—all produced in-house, which is a rarity in watchmaking. Ulysse Nardin was the first to introduce silicon in watchmaking with the Freak in 2001, harnessing its exceptional properties such as anti-magnetism, resistance to oxidation and deformation, and enhancing timekeeping accuracy and reliability. The blue accents extend to the crown protector and rubber strap, reflecting the Diver X Skeleton Azure’s bold exploration of uncharted waters.
