Anonimo is one of the main sponsors of the 2020 Nendaz Freeride competition, one of the largest freeride competitions in the world, where hundreds of participants snowboard or ski down extreme terrain without a set course or rules. Anonimo has launched a special edition to mark the occasion, the Anonimo Nautilo 42 mm special edition Nendaz Freeride, a watch which is both sporty and bold.
This is not the first special edition for Anonimo. In 2019 they presented the Nautilo Leopard in partnership with Leopard Racing. The edition was limited to 97 pieces, a nod to the year of birth of Anonimo watches. The Epurato Special Edition Montreux Comedy was also launched in 2019 following a partnership with the Montreux Comedy Festival, for which only 30 pieces were made as a celebration of the festival’s 30th anniversary. In 2020, Anonimo presented the Militare Chrono WRC Special edition, as they sponsor the World Rally Championship for 2 years.
The case is 42 mm in satin steel, which gives it a fresh and outdoorsy look. The fresh look is completed by a satin-finished blue sunray dial that conveys both depth and character. The graduated rotating unidirectional bezel is in black ceramic. The Nendaz Freeride logo is engraved on the side of the case at 9 o’clock and as a transfer on the screwed open case-back. The strap is in black rubber with a steel pin buckle.
Anonimo watches can be recognized by the positioning of the crown. On the Epurato collection, you will find the crown at the traditional 3 o’clock position, whilst the Militare collection positions the crown at 12 o’clock. However, with the Nautilo collection, which includes the new Nautilo 42mm Nendaz Freeride, the crown is at 4 o’clock. Positioning the crown in this position increases comfort when worn, which is even more important when you are racing down unchartered mountainsides at neck-breaking speeds.
The Anonimo Nautilo 42mm Nendaz Freeride comes with a Swiss Made SW 200-1 caliber, with a customized oscillating weight and a power reserve of 38 hours hours. The dial displays the hours, minutes, central seconds and the date. The watch is water-resistant to 200 meters.
Freeride is much more than a sport; it is a passion and an adventure that lives and breathes freedom. To reach the start of the competition, the athletes must hike up the highest summits on foot with skis or snowboards attached to their backpacks, giving you a good idea of just how tough this discipline really is. The Nendaz Freeride is celebrating its 14th edition this year and if you have the chance I highly recommend checking it out – online or for the lucky few – in person!
