The MB&F Legacy Machine Perpetual EVO encapsulates the brand’s philosophy of creating innovative timepieces. Introduced in 2020, the LM Perpetual EVO has been designed for an active lifestyle, featuring a sporty, durable build while maintaining the sophistication of a high-complication watch.

The Perpetual EVO line started with three limited editions in zirconium and later added a titanium version with a green dial plate. Now, in 2024, MB&F introduces a new edition with an icy blue dial-plate, also housed in a titanium case, which replaces the green version. Each watch comes with an integrated rubber strap for comfort.

The case is 44mm in diameter, in titanium, known for its superior properties compared to stainless steel. The design emphasizes a bezel-less profile with a domed sapphire crystal directly fused to the case for a clear view of the watch face. The EVO case has a “FlexRing” shock-absorbing system that increases the durability of the watch.

The heart of the LM Perpetual EVO is its perpetual calendar, designed by Stephen McDonnell, which forgoes traditional calendar mechanisms for an innovative “mechanical processor”. This processor starts with a base of 28 days for each month and adds the additional days as needed. It prevents incorrect date jumping and includes a safety feature to disconnect the pushers during the date changeover, avoiding potential damage.

The calendar system is not an add-on module but an integral part of the movement, synchronized not by a traditional lever but by a series of superimposed discs, allowing for a more compact and efficient design.

The LM Perpetual EVO is water-resistant up to 80m, thanks to a screw-down crown that disengages the winding stem to prevent over-winding. The pushers for the calendar have been redesigned for easier use, and the FlexRing provides shock protection, enhancing the robustness of this highly complex timepiece.

The machine also features the world’s longest balance wheel pinion, which was a technical achievement showcased first with the LM Perpetual.
