Speake Marin’s groundbreaking ‘Minute Repeater Carillon’ watch marks a significant achievement in the world of luxury watchmaking. This masterpiece is the first of its kind from their workshop, Le Cercle des Horlogers, showcasing their commitment to the art of Haute Horlogerie. The watch pays homage to the historical necessity of sound signal complications, which were originally developed in the 17th century to tell time in the dark.
The ‘Minute Repeater Carillon’ boasts a unique ‘Piccadilly’ case made from a combination of platinum, Grade 5 titanium, and sapphire, offering a distinctive look and enhancing the chime’s sound. Its design features a 60-second flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock and a visible Minute Repeater Carillon mechanism at 12 o’clock, which animates the 12-hour markers during chiming without affecting timekeeping.
The watch’s in-house calibre SMAHH-02 is a manual movement requiring about a month to assemble its 536 components. It embodies Speake Marin’s dedication to precision, with the chiming rhythm set to an ideal 18 seconds for 12H59 to ensure dynamic resonance. The minute repeater’s sound quality is further refined through the use of sapphire in its three hammers, taking advantage of sapphire’s hardness to create optimal tones for the hours, quarters, and minute signals.
The ‘Minute Repeater Carillon’ from Speake Marin stands out as a symbol of Speake Marin’s innovative craftsmanship and historical respect.
