Limited edition of 200 pieces
U-Boat has introduced the Capsule version 2.0 watches, seven years after the original design. Inspired by 1930s bathyspheres and Jules Verne’s underwater worlds, the Capsule watch, first released at 2015 Baselworld, mirrors the design of early submersibles with spherical portholes and pressure-resistant features.
The new version, showcased at the 2023 Watches & Wonders, features anti-reflective sapphire glass with a magnifying effect, a unique bezel fixed with five screws, and a lateral opening around the circumference. It’s available in 50mm and 45mm sizes, with options in grade 5 titanium (only in 50mm), PVD-treated steel, and satin-finished steel, all featuring a black dial and a date window.
The titanium Capsule model includes a three-layered dial with beige Superluminova indexes and a 24-hour indicator, while the PVD steel versions in both sizes have blue Superluminova indexes without the 24-hour counter. The range also includes 316L steel case options in both sizes.
These Capsule watches are powered by a Swiss Sellita SW200 caliber movement, modified for U-BOAT, offering 41 hours of power reserve. They are water-resistant up to 100 meters and come with a handcrafted Tuscan leather strap. Limited editions include 90 pieces in titanium and 200 in other materials, blending futuristic design with a steampunk aesthetic.
