Cuervo y Sobrinos breathes new life into one of its cornerstone collections with the Espléndidos Heritage, a refined tribute to Havana’s golden age and the Maison’s Cuban-Swiss identity. Rooted in the brand’s rich history dating back to 1882, the collection channels the elegance and languid charm of 1930s Havana, an era when the Cuban capital rivalled the great cultural centres of the world. The name “Espléndidos,” borrowed from a classic cigar size, reflects this connection to Havana’s legendary lounges, where time was savoured, not chased.

The star of the show is the distinctive curved rectangular case, a silhouette that dates to Cuervo y Sobrinos’ most celebrated period. Faithfully reinterpreted, its smooth contours and balanced proportions sit elegantly on the wrist. The dial work is equally considered: a lacquered, multi-level design with a Clou de Paris centre, encircled by a screwed-in ring for added visual tension. A polished “bague” ring outlines the small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock, adding depth and separating it from the crisp indices.

Inside ticks the La Joux-Perret G120, a proven Swiss calibre with a 68-hour power reserve, visible through the sapphire caseback and dressed with a gold-toned, openworked rotor bearing the Cuervo y Sobrinos crest. The collection launches in two variants: the 82 piece Limited Edition with a warm cream dial and rose gold highlights, and the sleek, serial-production Black version. Both come on hand-stitched Louisiana alligator straps with open-worked clasps.

Cuervo y Sobrinos Espléndidos Heritage Limited Edition

Cuervo y Sobrinos has a rich history dating back to 1862 when Spanish immigrant Ramón Fernández Cuervo opened a jewelry and watch repair shop in Havana, Cuba. In 1882, the business expanded with the incorporation of Cuervo’s nephews, officially becoming Cuervo y Sobrinos. The company thrived during Cuba’s golden age in the 1950s, with its prestigious boutique in Havana frequented by distinguished figures like Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein, and Ernest Hemingway. Today, Cuervo y Sobrinos is located in Switzerland, but despite this, it has remained true to its Latin roots, drawing inspiration from its Cuban heritage for its watch designs and collections.

Cuervo y Sobrinos has withstood the test of time, blending Swiss watchmaking expertise with Cuban flair, earning them a loyal following among watch enthusiasts. As an authorized retailer of Cuervo y Sobrinos watches, we guarantee the authenticity of our timepieces, which are sourced directly from the manufacturer and come with the full two-year manufacturer’s warranty.
