History

On the 6th of May, 1970, Hamilton watches revolutionized the watch industry. At a press conference in New York, they announced the very first digital electronic wristwatch, the Pulsar. A watch that had no moving parts made no ticking sound and was both durable and accurate – Straight out of science fiction. The Pulsar changed the way we tell time, just like Star Wars changed the way we saw space.

Elvis Presley

Elvis Presley was one of the first to buy the initial Pulsar P1 when it hit the market in 1972, He snapped one up at $2,100 price tag which in 1972 was equivalent to the price of a family car. Only 400 models were made, all in 18ct yellow gold. By 1973, the wrist computer was ready for the general public, and the stainless steel Pulsar P2 was launched to massive success. Among its first adopters were Keith Richards, Joe Frazier and Elton John

The new Hamilton PSR

There are two versions of the Hamilton PSR to choose from: a stainless steel model, which gives a nod to the Pulsar P2 and a yellow gold plated steel version, which celebrates the Pulsar P1.

PSR Stainless Steel

The PSR stainless steel version has the same wide cushion style as the P2 from 1973 and the same dimensions of 40.8mm X 34.7mm. The watch is water-resistant to 10 bar (100m). The display of time is different as technology has advanced, and so has the PSR. The display is a hybrid of an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and emissive OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes). Press the button once, and you will see the red OLED numerals for the time. The LCD ensures that the time is visible in daylight as well.
