Red Flame and Red Lion Official Emblem of the Baden-Württemberg Firefighters Association.

The Hanhart Thermosphere was developed in direct collaboration with the Baden-Württemberg State Firefighters Association. This 112-piece limited edition transfers the precise time checkpoints of breathing apparatus monitoring onto a rotating bezel, giving firefighters a clear, intuitive tool for tracking operational duration when visibility drops to near zero. The 42mm case carries the emblem of the Baden-Württemberg Firefighters Association on both dial and caseback, while the numeral 112, Europe’s fire and rescue emergency number and the watch’s edition size, appears at 12 o’clock with the first digit visually separated through a contrasting color treatment. It is a piece that earns its symbolism.

Built on the architecture of Hanhart’s Aquasphere series, the Thermosphere takes that proven platform in an entirely different operational direction. Where the Aquasphere was oriented toward underwater use, the Thermosphere is calibrated for heat, smoke and zero-visibility conditions, its name drawn from the Ancient Greek thermós, meaning heat. The rotating bezel carries triangular Super-LumiNova markers corresponding to breathing apparatus checkpoints, typically set at 30-minute intervals for a single air cylinder and 60 minutes for twin-cylinder configurations. A prominently luminous minute hand supports rapid time reading in total darkness. The high-contrast color scheme of yellow, blue and red reflects the visual language of the fire service directly.

Every movement is regulated by hand at the Hanhart manufactory in Gütenbach, held to a standard of 0 to +8 seconds per day across six positions with a maximum delta of ten seconds between them. Negative deviation in primary positions is not permitted. The Thermosphere is available with a Hookstrap textile strap sized for wear over protective clothing, with a stainless steel bracelet or a rubber strap. Sapphire crystal and 30-bar water resistance round out a specification list that reflects exactly the watch’s stated purpose: a very dependable tool.
