Limited edition of 20 pieces
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Calibre 948 World-Timer is a remarkable showcase of the brand’s expertise in watchmaking and complex complications. This model, unveiled in 2024, combines a world time display with a flying tourbillon that completes a circuit around the dial every 24 hours, symbolizing the Earth’s rotation and orbit. It features a green enamel dial crafted in the in-house Métiers RaresTM atelier, set in an 18-carat pink gold case, and is limited to 20 pieces.
The watch’s design intricately links to the historical concept of world time zones, originating from the need to standardize time across different regions in the 19th century. The dial itself is a piece of art involving over 70 hours of work using techniques like enameling, guillochage, and lacquering. The map on the dial is created with champlevé enamel on a domed gold structure.
The Calibre 948 movement, composed of 388 components, is designed for easy synchronization of global time zones via the crown. The Master Grande Tradition Calibre 948 is fitted with a dark green alligator strap.
