Jaquet Droz introduces two new versions of the Grande Seconde Skelet-One
The Grande Seconde was inspired by a pocket watch created by Pierre Jaquet Droz in the 18th century. The first Grande Seconde Skelet-One was presented by Jaquet Droz in 2018, an audacious and modern take on the more traditional Grande Seconde. A watch with an eye-catching design, a case in high-tech materials impossible to scratch and a fully transparent uncluttered dial. The brand’s trademark figure eight visible with the off-centered hours and minutes and the “grande” second at 6 o’clock which are displayed on the sapphire dial.
The Grande Seconde Skelet-One Plasma is the more modern of the two new versions launched in April 2020. The 41.5mm case is as its name suggest is in plasma ceramic. This is the first time Jaquet Droz uses this material which is made by transforming white ceramic with gas heated to 20’000°C, giving it a unique metallic glow. Plasma ceramic is extremely hard, lightweight and scratch-resistant. The sapphire dial is where the action is happening, fully skeletonized with white gold indexes, hands, and visible screws. The white gold base has been given a gray treatment that matches perfectly with the rolled-edge hand-made gray fabric strap. Every component of the 2663 SQ self-winding skeleton mechanical movement has been beautifully reduced to the minimum.
The second version released is the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Skelet-One Red Gold.
