When MB&F opened a new Lounge in Manhattan, it chose to mark the occasion the way it marks most things that matter: with a watch. The LM101 EVO NYC Edition is a limited run of 25 pieces produced exclusively for the new space at 595 Madison Avenue, a rose gold and black expression of a reference that has anchored the Legacy Machine family since its introduction. The case is rose gold. The dial plate is black PVD with a sunray-brushed finish. Together they set up a contrast that draws the eye immediately to the flying balance wheel and the floating subdials suspended above it, which is exactly where the eye should go.
The movement itself remains faithful to the LM101 EVO introduced in 2025, carrying forward the hours and minutes display, a 60-hour power reserve indicator, and the hand-finished balance bridge architecture developed in collaboration with Kari Voutilainen. That collaboration has always been central to what makes the Legacy Machine convincing: Voutilainen’s background in classical haute horlogerie finishing gives the movement a quality of execution that holds up under scrutiny from every angle, and the black dial plate only deepens the three-dimensional effect the architecture produces. The caseback is engraved with the words MB&F NYC, a quiet acknowledgment of the occasion.
The New York Lounge occupies the fifth floor of the Fuller Building, an Art Deco landmark designed by Walker and Gillette and completed in 1929. MB&F has made the space its first directly managed retail venture in North America, designed by Voltige Design and Architecture to feel less like a boutique and more like a room worth spending time in. Natural light, warm wood finishes and carefully placed mechanical art set the tone. The LM101 EVO NYC Edition belongs there, 25 pieces for a city that has always responded well to things made with intention.
