The Richard Mille RM 07-02 Automatic Sapphire collection is a perfect fusion of clean design and advanced watchmaking. Staying true to the 2015 original, these timepieces feature cases entirely made from colored sapphire, allowing the intricate movement to be admired from every angle. The collection introduces four new variations, including a fresh lilac hue and redesigned gem-set dials.
At the core of each watch lies a stunningly symmetrical dial with a mix of diamonds, sapphires, and ornamental stones like spessartite, opal, and malachite. The intricate gem-setting highlights the craftsmanship, with hand-polished gold prongs securing the stones and enhancing the sapphire’s brilliance.
The RM 07-02 Automatic Sapphire are powered by the CRMA5 skeletonized automatic movement, equipped with a variable-geometry rotor for customizable winding based on activity. This compact mechanism offers a 50-hour power reserve and is encased in sapphire, requiring over 1,000 hours of precise machining and polishing due to the material’s exceptional hardness and curved design.
Colored sapphire cases are even more challenging to produce, involving meticulous incorporation of metal oxides to achieve the perfect hue. The lilac version, for example, required extensive trials to perfect its shade.
Limited to just seven pieces per version, the RM 07-02 collection includes pink, lilac, green, and gem-set green sapphire options.
