The announcement today from Only Watch: Monaco (23 October 2023) – The Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies (AMM) has decided to postpone the 10th edition of the Only Watch (OW) auction to 2024, originally scheduled for 5 November 2023 in Geneva.

Since its inception in 2005, Only Watch has been driven by a singular mission: to raise funds for research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy through the auction of unique timepieces. Over time, with the unwavering support of the watch industry and the entire ecosystem, this initiative has transformed into a highly anticipated biennial event on the horology calendar, eagerly anticipated by both watch brands and collectors. Each participating brand contributes one exceptional watch, while partners offer invaluable services, logistical support, and organizational expertise.
Through the nine previous editions, Only Watch has made remarkable strides in research, having raised nearly EURCHF 100 million to date. These funds have empowered the Monaco-based charity, the Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies, to make significant advancements toward clinical trials while upholding the noble and non-profit nature of the cause.
This 2023 edition includes 62 unique watches for its 10th biennial charity auction, scheduled to take place on November 5, 2023, in Geneva. In celebration of its anniversary, this edition of Only Watch incorporates the colors of previous editions into its visual identity and introduces the color green as a symbol of hope. Christie’s will host the event at PALEXPO, marking their fourth partnership with Only Watch. Leading up to the auction, a promotional tour will showcase the watches to the public, media, and enthusiasts within the horological community. The tour is scheduled to commence on September 6, 2023, in Los Angeles and will culminate on November 5, 2023, in Geneva. The Chronodate Gold x Château Angelus timepiece combines these crafts, featuring a dial made from freeze-dried lees of the 2022 vintage known as “Le Majestueux” (the majestic). Lot 19 – CZAPEK GENÈVE Place Vendôme Complicité Courage Every Second

The watch concept originated in 2018 as a development of Czapek’s renowned Quai des Bergues and Place Vendôme models. The challenge was to connect the escapements at 4:30 and 7:30 to the differential at 12 o’clock, but finding a partner who could achieve this proved difficult. However, a fortuitous meeting between Xavier Czapek and Bernhard Lederer revived the idea. Through their collaboration and friendship, they resolved the architectural challenge and created the “Complicité” watch. Made of steel instead of precious metals, it features a “champlevé” enamel ring in the colors of Only Watch 2023 encircling the dial.
Lot 20 – DE BETHUNE DW Seeking Perfect for Only Watch 23

This exceptional watch features a dial and spherical moon made from a ferrous meteorite. To create the case, Denis Flageollet employed ancient iron and steel-making techniques, using a metal magnifying glass crafted in his own blast furnace. The unique patterns on its surface resulted from forging together various parts of his meticulously prepared metal. Denis Flageollet undertook a complex process to create this iron and steel mass, starting from iron ore sourced at L’Auberson. Through roasting, crushing, and reducing the ore with glowing charcoal in his low furnace, he obtained a compact material that closely resembled the desired shape. Complementing the craftsmanship, the De Bethune team developed a tourbillon movement that can be admired on the watch’s reverse side.
Lot 21 – F.P.JOURNE Chronométre Furtif Bleu

For the Only Watch event, a one-of-a-kind watch has been created with a Tantalum case and bracelet, accompanied by an 18K rose gold movement. Named the Chronomètre Furtif Bleu, it derives its name from the challenge of reading the time unless the watch is facing the viewer. The blue enamel dial showcases frosted numerals that are visible only through the reflection of light. Additionally, the moon phase and power reserve indications are discreetly integrated into the movement and can only be seen on the back, making it a watch intended solely for the enjoyment of its owner.
