Retrograde displays have been a signature complication for Maurice Lacroix for over 20 years and now they are back with a brand-new Masterpiece Moonphase Retrograde collection.

The Maurice Lacroix Moonphase Retrograde comes in a 43mm stainless steel case with polished and chamfered surfaces. The case band has been recessed, giving the timepiece its sleek and slim lines, and the crown is knurled in accordance with the traditional design codes of fine watchmaking. The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters.

The timepiece celebrates Maurice Lacroix’s history of using non-circular displays. The day, at two o’clock, and the date, at 10 o’clock, are both indicated by hands which arch through 150 degrees. When they reach the end of their scales, they instantaneously jump back to their point of origin. A sub-dial at six o’clock features both a moon phase and a small seconds indicator.

The timepiece is powered by the exclusive ML 190 automatic caliber and includes a complication module (for the retrograde day, retrograde date and also the moon phase) that was designed entirely in-house.

A closer look at the Masterpiece Moonphase Retrograde dials reveals a number of different patterns, including a Clou de Paris motif and a bead-blasting finish for the silver version and a Côtes de Genève pattern and a snailed motif for the blue version.

The timepiece comes fitted with a black calfskin strap.

Maurice Lacroix is a company that is continuously growing – seeking new ways of telling the time, such as with their Masterpiece Square Wheel Retrograde launched in 2010 or the Masterpiece Embrace launched in 2020 where two hearts rotate on the dial.

On 1 July, 2011, DKSH, a Swiss company based in Zurich and the leading market expansion services provider in Asia acquired a controlling stake in the Maurice Lacroix group.
